Requirements for materials

This is the most fundamental and important aspect, as materials determine the majority of the performance of accessories.

Electrical Insulation: This is a fundamental requirement. The material must have high electrical resistivity, which can effectively prevent leakage, short circuit, and breakdown, ensuring user safety and circuit stability. Common materials include PC, ABS, PP, PBT, PPS, LCP, etc.

Flame retardancy: To prevent fires caused by circuit overheating or short circuits, the vast majority of electronic and electrical enclosures and internal structural components require the use of flame-retardant materials. UL94 V-0 rating is a common industry standard, especially in products such as power supplies and chargers.

Heat resistance:

Short term heat resistance: able to withstand high temperatures (above 260 ° C) during soldering and soldering (such as wave soldering and reflow soldering) without deformation. PPS, LCP, PA and other materials have excellent heat resistance.

Long term heat resistance: At the normal operating temperature of the equipment (such as 80-120 ° C), the material should not soften, age, or deteriorate in performance. Hot deformation temperature (HDT) is a key indicator.

Mechanical strength and dimensional stability:

The material needs to have sufficient strength (tensile, bending, impact strength) to protect the internal precision components, withstand assembly stress and external forces during daily use.

Size must be stable, with a small shrinkage rate in different temperature and humidity environments to ensure assembly accuracy and long-term reliability. Adding glass fiber (GF) is a common method to improve strength and dimensional stability.

Chemical resistance: It can resist the erosion of chemical substances such as sweat, cleaning agents, and grease, and prevent cracking or stress corrosion.

Environmental Protection and Regulatory Compliance:

RoHS: Strictly restrict the use of harmful substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).

REACH: Control substances of high concern.

Halogen Free: Especially in the high-end consumer electronics and automotive electronics fields.
